2013 Year of Engagement – Chapter One: Engagement with Peace
Network’s goal for 2013 is to be a “Year of Engagement” through social media outlets, business development education and technology.
Beginning the “Year of Engagement” with Peace. Let’s start 2013 Heads up, Eyes Wide-Open and Together…” Kūlia i ka nu’u” – Strive to reach the summit and always with aloha.
The first event of engagement was a community outreach project. Held on January 20, 2013, peacemakers from Hawaii and the rest of the world creating, together the largest human peace sign for the record in Hawaii at Kapiolani Park. The record is held by Ithaca, NY with 5,814 humans. Our attempt was to bring together 6,000 humans. We made a State of Hawaii record with over 2,000 participants!
Network808’s 2013 goal is engagement and it’s no small or easy task. However, it’s an exciting exploration on relationship building. It requires connecting people beyond simply “hello – nice to meet you. My name is…” It’s a consistent sharing of information, slowly unfolding similar values and traits amongst small and a larger group. Peace awareness and global consciousness is expanding. What a better project to bring together and build stronger longer lasting relationships in Hawaii and the rest of the world. There are many values aligned with the fundamental drive for Peace.
What did I learn from this project?
- Core values give us a personal and professional moral compass.
- Dreams open and excite people. People have needs. They want to know that you really care and it matters. They will come together.
- Courage and commitment to give it your best shot. At the end of the day, you say to yourself, “I will try again tomorrow.”
Network808 provided social media broadcasting support and online event & participant engagement and volunteerism throughout and at the day of the event. Our records show 24,568 Facebook friends were invited to the event. 1,086 FB “Going” and 480 FB “Maybe”. Social media promoters, Peace advocates, friends of friends, connections and others shared, liked, and tweeted engaging content until the day of the event. Network808 discovers a link to audience engagement and will continue the follow this movement.
